Summer is the perfect excuse to experiment with refreshing drinks. Here are five easy summer mocktails featuring bright citrus flavors, floral notes, and a few personal favorites.
This is one of those drinks that feels instantly cooling. Muddle a handful of fresh mint leaves in a glass, add the juice of one lime, a teaspoon of honey or agave, and top with sparkling water. Serve over ice and garnish with an extra sprig of mint.
Agua de jamaica is already a summer staple in many Mexican households, so turning it into a mocktail feels like a natural next step. Combine chilled jamaica (hibiscus) tea with sparkling water, a bit of agave syrup, and a few orange slices. The result is bright, tart, and incredibly refreshing.
I have to admit that pineapple has never been my favorite fruit—it always makes my tongue feel a little funny—but I know I'm in the minority! Blend pineapple juice, coconut water, fresh lime juice, and ice until smooth. If you're a fan of tropical flavors or piña coladas, this one is hard to beat.
Lavender and lemon are one of my favorite summer combinations. Mix fresh lemon juice with sparkling water and a small amount of culinary lavender syrup. The floral notes are subtle, the citrus keeps it refreshing, and it looks beautiful served in a tall glass with plenty of ice.
This mocktail feels a little elegant without requiring much effort. Muddle a handful of raspberries, add fresh lemon juice, a small splash of rose syrup, and top with sparkling water. The berries balance the floral flavor nicely, creating a drink that feels special enough for guests but simple enough for an ordinary afternoon.
One of the things I like most about mocktails is how easy they are to customize. If you prefer your drinks sweeter, add a little extra honey or agave. If you enjoy tart flavors, increase the citrus. Think of these recipes as starting points rather than strict instructions and adjust them to suit your own taste.
