  • Infused Water Recipes for Hot Days

    May 27, 2020 2 min read

The weather is getting warmer, and iced drinks never tasted so good. Infused water is my go-to drink this time of year–not only is it tasty, but it encourages me to stay hydrated. Keeping hydrated is one of the most important things that you can do for your body. Your mood, energy levels, metabolism, and immune function all depend on adequate water consumption.

Here are my personal favorite infusions.

Spa Infusion for Detoxication: Cucumber Lemon Mint Rosemary

Infused Water Recipes for Hot Days l The Community Hub l Mukha Yoga

    How to:

    • Place 3-4 sprigs of mint and 2-3 sprigs of rosemary in a large pitcher of water and let it steep overnight in the fridge. You can also crush the sprigs if you’re in a hurry.
    • Add the juice of half a lemon.
    • Add thin slices of one medium cucumber and half of a lemon.
    • Allow to sit in the fridge for an additional 2 hours.

Potential Benefits: Lemon and cucumber promote detoxication and healthy digestion while mint and rosemary have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Purple Zinger for Digestive Discomfort: Lavender Lemon Blueberry Ginger

Infused Water Recipes for Hot Days l The Community Hub l Mukha Yoga

    How to:

    • Place 2-3 large slices of ginger, a generous handful of blueberries, and 3-4 sprigs of dried lavender in a large pitcher filled with water.
    • Let sit in the fridge overnight.
    • In the morning, add a few thin slices of lemon and let sit for another 30 minutes.
    • Add the juice of half a lemon.
    • Enjoy eating the blueberries as you rehydrate!

Potential Benefits: The ginger and lemon are great for soothing the stomach and promoting healthy digestion. Blueberries are famous for their antioxidant properties, and lavender is known for its calming properties.

Now really, you could throw whatever fruit and herbs you have into some water - and presto! You have made your own infused magic. Stay hydrated friends - and have fun doing it!

    Bonus tips:

    • You can add honey or stevia if you’re trying to find a replacement for sugary drinks.
    • Allow the ingredients to steep in the fridge for about 4 hours. Ginger and herbs usually take more time for infusion, while citrus flavors water almost instantaneously.
    • You can keep refilling the pitcher with water using the same ingredients, with optimum freshness lasting 1-2 days.
