If you told me a few years ago that drinking diluted vinegar would be a regular part of my morning routine, I’d have surely called you crazy. There was a time I knew only of white vinegar aka. a topping for french fries. Then, likely thanks to Goop, apple cider vinegar or ACV came onto my radar. I realized how limited my vinegar vocabulary had been. Nowadays, it’s a staple ingredient in my pantry. Although it comes with a strong bite, apple cider vinegar can be diluted and paired with a few simple ingredients to create a surprisingly tasty elixir.

What are the health benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar?

    Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Benefits:

    • Can help regulate blood sugar and improve insulin sensitivity
    • Is rich in probiotics, can improve gut health and digestion
    • Contains magnesium, iron, manganese and amino acids
    • Can reduce bloating and eliminate heartburn

One of the most widely noted benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar is its ability to regulate blood sugar. It contains acetic acid, which may block enzymes that help digest starch, helping to prevent sharp spikes in blood sugar after consuming starchy carbohydrates like breads and pasta. It can be easily incorporated into salad dressings, sauces or consumed as a beverage to accompany meals.

Can I drink apple cider vinegar every day?

It is safe to drink 1-2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar every day. That being said, it’s always best to start off slow when adding a new ingredient or ritual to your diet. Consider starting with a glass every other day and noting how your body reacts.
