One of the beautiful things about a rich yoga practice is the community of yogis who share their favorite lessons, meditations, and quotes.
A steady favorite at our studio is A Year of Living Your Yoga: Daily Practices to Shape your Life by Judith Hanson Lasater. This book is a daily devotion to a full life and a full yoga practice, and my students often say that the quote of the day was exactly what they needed to hear.
Here are some of my favorite quotes of hers:
“Which do you want: the pain of staying where you are, or the pain of growth?”
“We can become too used to what is usual and miss what is important.”
“Laugh more.”
“Everyone has to go through the woods and meet the big bad wolf in order to get to grandma’s house.”
And this lovely manifestation of the word namaste:
“Love is what arises in me when I sense the Divine in others.”
Whether you choose to read the entries on the dates they are assigned, or just open the book to see where it lands, you’ll be enriched by the experience.
